Trekking in the shadow of the Dhaulagiri massive, French pass and Annapurnarange

This is a challenging remote area trek, taking in two high pass crossings a complete circuit of Dhaulagiri, the world’s 7th highest peak. From the Baglung Bazar or Beni Bazaar, we meander through terraced foothills and forested ridges towards the southwestern side of the awe-inspiring Dhaulagiri. At this time of year we will invariably meet up with a climbing expedition as we make our way up past the base camp toward French Pass (5,240 meters).

Once over the pass we descend into Hidden Valley, before climbing over Dhampus pass (5,100 meters) and then down into the Kali Gandaki Gorge. Back on the main trail we’ll relax in the hot springs of Tatopani, eat fresh fruit, and maybe even have a celebratory drink or two, before returning to Pokhara and traveling back to Kathmandu.
